Box Elder Facility Release Paths
Box Elder County Correctional Facility is the county jail operated by the Box Elder County Sheriff's Office. A local detainee may leave for the community after bond, a court release, dismissal, or completion of a jail sentence. The same person may instead transfer to Utah Department of Corrections, another county, federal custody, immigration custody, or another agency. Only the first group is a community release.

Mail for a person currently held follows the Sheriff's posted rule and is addressed to the named inmate at P.O. Box 888, Brigham City, UT 84302-0888. That mailing address is not the records-request route. Release records go through the Box Elder County JustFOIA portal or the Records contact.
A focused request names the person and date range, then asks for existing documents: the booking sheet, jail-register entry, release-log entry, and booking photograph. It should seek public booking number, booking and release timestamps, release disposition, charges, case identifiers, and a receiving agency when recorded. Ask for redaction of restricted material and release of the rest.
Box Elder Correctional Facility Facts
The Sheriff's official description gives the Box Elder County Correctional Facility a capacity of 168 beds, with 26 reserved for women. Housing includes dormitory, pod, and individual-cell settings. Capacity is a design figure. It is not the current population, number of bookings, or annual number of releases, and it should not be used as a substitute for any of those measures.

Box Elder State Custody Releases
Box Elder County Correctional Facility also participates in UDC contract housing. UDC's fiscal-year 2024 Jail Programs book listed 40 contracted beds and 14 then available to Corrections for male housing. The Inmate Placement Program also names Box Elder County as a partner. Those figures describe that fiscal-year program and not the present daily population.
This is the facility's most important release nuance. A UDC prisoner housed inside the Box Elder jail remains a state-custody case. Search the UDC Offender Search for the current legal status, housing, Board date, and parole or expiration information. Check the Board decision for the release authority. Do not treat the county release-log route as the sole record merely because the person slept in a county building.
UDC's official release-day process also differs from an ordinary county bond release. State releases and paroles are processed on Tuesdays, generally through the Utah State Correctional Facility operation. UDC gives different family arrival guidance for people housed at a Utah prison and UDC clients housed in county jails, and processing can take one to four hours. Those facts apply only after UDC custody is confirmed.

Box Elder Booking Photos and Retention
There is no online Box Elder County roster photo. A named booking photograph must be requested from Records under GRAMA and classified under current law. Utah Code §17-72-802 restricts a sheriff from furnishing an image for a publish-for-pay use and allows an affirmation from the requester. A UDC prison photograph may be available for a state prisoner, but it is not the same record as a county booking photo.
The Sheriff has not published an online retention window because no roster or release feed is posted. Web visibility and government retention are different concepts. If Records reports that a release log, booking sheet, or photo no longer exists, ask which approved retention schedule governs it. If access is denied, ask for the written classification basis and appeal route.
A “not found” response does not confirm release. It may reflect spelling, the wrong date range, a different arresting or custodial agency, lawful restriction, or an expired retention period. Recheck the court and receiving agency before closing the search.
Utah court records can supply the legal reason that outlives the jail's current-status answer.
